National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula has urged Kenyans to be patient and support the government despite hard economic times.

Speaking at a church ceremony at the St. Anthony Cathedral in Kilifi County on Sunday morning, Wetangula said that the election period is over and it is time to implement government policies regardless of political affiliations.

He called on Kenyans to give elected leaders time to work, adding that President William Ruto is at the forefront of reconciliation by accepting bipartisan talks with the opposition.

He was accompanied by MPs Innocent Mugabe of Likuyani constituency and his Garsen counterpart Ali Wario where he also donated to the church choir and children's projects.

On Saturday, Wetangula was in Tana River County, where he equally called on Kenyans to unite and support President Ruto’s efforts.

“He is the only president who has shown interest in working for the people. You should unite behind him so that we can move forward as a country," he said.

The speaker told residents that the government is working on restoring peace in Tana River.

"I have talked to the CS of interior Kithure Kindiki and he has told me that he will come here to talk to you on how you can better your security," he said.
