Who stole the Homa Bay County Assembly mace?

The mace belonging to the Homa Bay County Assembly has gone missing.

On Wednesday, operations of the House were paralysed for the better part of the day as Members of the Homa Bay County Assembly demanded answers.

The symbol of authority is alleged to have been stolen by unknown people on Tuesday night.

Temporary speaker Evans Marieba confirmed the incident saying the matter has been reported at Homa Bay Police Station.

The Assembly was forced to resort to an old defunct mace that was used by the previous County Government to run House business for the day.

During the house proceedings, Kabondo West MCA Geoffrey Anyango raised questions demanding answers on how the mace was stolen from the office of the speaker which is highly secured.

Mr. Anyango and a section of MCAs said they had learned of the incident in the morning after chief Sergeant at Arms confirmed it was missing.

Members of the County Assembly are expected to debate about the issue in the afternoon session.

The morning session of the County Assembly was snubbed by former leader of the majority Richard Ogindo and his allies.
