Why I skipped debate ~ Uhuru

President Uhuru Kenyatta has said he skipped the presidential debate on July 24 because it was a waste of time.

Speaking during a campaign rally in Nyeri County, the Head of State said that his development record speaks for itself and argued that there were no issues to debate about with his main rival Raila Odinga, the National Super Alliance presidential candidate.

“I decided to skip the debate because my scorecard speaks for itself, the votes are with the people on the ground therefore  I was not going to waste my time there,” President Kenyatta said.

President Kenyatta skipped the debate on Monday granting his opponent Raila a golden opportunity to answer questions from moderators and the public as millions of Kenyans followed closely the debate on television, radio stations and online platforms.

That was the second snub by the Jubilee Party after the Deputy President William Ruto also skipped the running mates debate, saying the debate organizers failed to consult him.

The debate was held at the Catholic University of East Africa.
