Why President Kenyatta skipped devolution conference
President Uhuru Kenyatta’s official opening of the fifth Devolution Conference will be done via video after bad weather made it impossible for him to fly to Kakamega.
The president was expected to officially open the governor’s jamboree on Tuesday but the heavy rains pounding many parts of the country made visibility impossible for the chopper to fly to Kakamega.
As a result, the president will address the governors via video link from State House, Nairobi.
The president’s team had hoped the inclement weather would improve and get the chopper to take off but by midday, when that looked impossible, the decision was made to cancel the trip.
