Widow of slain Muslim cleric Aboud Rogo freed
Haniya Said Saggar, the widow of slain Muslim cleric Aboud Rogo, has been released on a Ksh 1 million bond and a surety of a similar amount.
Haniya appeared before Shanzu Law Courts in Mombasa to answer to charges of holding crucial information that would have helped police to avert a terror attack on Mombasa Central Police Station on September 11, 2016.
Mombasa Principal Magistrate, Diana Mochache, said the prosecution failed to provide enough grounds for the defendant to continue being remanded.
The suspect was, however, ordered to surrender her travel documents to the court and further report to Nyali police station every first Tuesday of every month.
Three other women arrest in connection with the attack and said to be Haniya’s accomplices were denied bond.
The court said that it was not convinced that the three should be granted freedom.
