Wiper installs Elections Board bosses

The Wiper Democratic Movement – Kenya has named Hassan Sheikh Ali as its elections board’s chair.

Wiper’s National Executive Council also named Agatha Solitei as the vice chair while Khalfan Shikely was named the Secretary to the elections board.

Other members include Thomas Ombati and Charles Kaloki.

“The aforementioned persons who are taking up these positions, are persons of high integrity and knowledgeable, and do not hold any elective party position,” read the Wiper’s statement to newsrooms.

“As per Article 11 of the Party Constitution, the mandate of the National Elections Board (NEB) is to plan, organize and coordinate the WDM-K internal party elections, as well as the Party’s Presidential, Parliamentary, Senatorial, Gubernatorial, Women, Special Representative and Civic candidate nominations throughout the Republic of Kenya, in readiness for the Presidential, National Assembly and Civic General Elections.”

Upon being installed as the leader, Sheikh Ali said that the organ will conduct its duties diligently.

“The National Election Board members are individuals of good standing and with a wealth of experience in public and private sector and they reflect the face of Kenya,” said Sheikh Ali.

“We affirm our commitment to ensuring a free and fair nomination process and currently we working on mechanisms to ensure the same.”
