Wiper MP who defected tells Kalonzo ready for by-election

Kilome Member of Parliament, Regina Ndambuki, has dared Wiper leader, Kalonzo Musyoka, to strike her off Wiper Party list noting that she is ready for a by-election.

Speaking in her home constituency on Thursday, September 29, Ndambuki said that she will not give in to Kalonzo’s demands to tie her in Wiper saying she will lead her constituents to Jubilee Party.

“The Ukambani region does not have hospitals, roads, schools, water among other necessities and the only person who is going to sort this out is President Uhuru Kenyatta despite the fact that we did not vote for him in 2013,” said the MP.

“In 2017, I will defend my seat on a Jubilee Party ticket and Kilome will vote for Uhuru Kenyatta to the last man.”

She further cautioned Kalonzo against dictating to them who to support and what party to be in saying as grownups, they are entitled to their own decisions.

“It has been a habit that every time they speak all they can do is threaten us with a by-election. I am ready for a by-election and I assure them that if one is held today, I will win by three-times the votes I got in 2013.”

She urged her constituents to register in large numbers and vote for President Kenyatta in 2017 in a bid to ensure development in realized in the constituency.

Her utterances come just days after Kalonzo warned all legislators who defended to Jubilee to quit the party and seek fresh mandate from the electorate.

The CORD co-principal had said it was hypocritical for the legislators to continue serving under Wiper after defecting to Jubilee.

Political parties, according to the Registrar of Political Parties, Lucy Ndung’u, cannot call for by-elections after striking defectors off their party lists. It is upon the defectors to write to their respective Speakers or her office expressing their intentions to seek fresh mandate, after which IEBC will set dates for by-elections.

Other Wiper legislators who have sworn allegiance to Jubilee include Joe Mutambu (Mwingi Central), John Munuve (Mwingi North), Kisoi Munyao (Mbooni) and Richard Makenga (Kaiti).
