Wiper party postpones return to Kasikeu after rally aborted

The Wiper Democratic Movement has postponed indefinitely the planned return to Kasikeu, Makueni County after a meet-the-people tour aborted last week following chaos by a group of youth that were chanting pro-Governor Dr. Alfred Mutua slogans.

Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka had on Saturday last week announced that the Wiper team would be returning to Kasikeu on September 18th, 2015.

However, the Wiper leader announced Wednesday night, while departing for the United Kingdom, that after wide consultations with other leaders and stakeholders, the party had decided to postpone the highly anticipated event until further notice.

“We have had broader consultations on this matter and a majority feel it is prudent we postpone the rally indefinitely; Wiper is a peaceful party and any attempts to go otherwise will be resisted,” said Musyoka.

The Wiper Party is also planning to launch official complaint with the Inspector General of Police over what they are terming as organized hooliganism.

The Party is accusing the police of abetting the crimes, which it says were being committed as the officers watched without taking any action.

Mr. Musyoka has instructed the party Secretary General Sen. Omar Hassan, Machakos Sen. Johnstone Muthama and the Wiper Secretariat led by Ag. Executive Director Dr. Temi Mutia to handle the case promptly and swiftly.
