Wiper sets up committee to discipline defectors

The Wiper Democratic Movement has formed a committee to dictate the disciplinary actions to be meted on legislators who defected to other parties.

Addressing the press after a national executive council meeting on Wednesday, the party named Haroun Ndubi as the chairperson while Lilian Omondi, Mutheu Muna, Abubakar Yusuf and Jacob Mutula were named committee members.

The legislators who have been summoned include Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua, MPs John Munuve (Mwingi North), Joe Mutambu Mwingi Central), Katemi Makenga (Kaiti), Regina Ndambuki (Kilome), Kisoi Munyao (Mbooni) and Robert Mutemi (Nominated).

Members of county assemblies who were apparently disloyal to the party have also been summoned to appear before the committee.

Wiper also condemned the Jubilee Administration for allegedly perpetuating corruption, which is supposedly threatening to plunge this country into destruction.

“We have watched as wanton theft of public funds has reached crisis levels, even as Jubilee continues to sink Kenya deeper and deeper into debt,” said Wiper Secretary General Hassan Omar.

“We have watched as the cost of public projects is inflated to astronomical proportions to aid the shameless plunder of our country. Millions continue to wallow in poverty even as the lucky few aided by the ruling regime bloat their tummies with ill-gotten wealth.”

“Kenyans are shocked that the Jubilee regime, particularly the president and his deputy can watch helplessly as Ksh5 billion health funds are plundered by people close to the presidency.”

“How can a 40 ft container cost the Kenyan taxpayer a whooping Ksh10 million each? How can more than 100 such containers be left to rot at the Mombasa National Youth Service yards for more than six months?”

They also accused Jubilee of sabotaging measures to effect the new electoral laws that would ensure free and fair elections.

“To ensure it desperately holds onto power, Jubilee has now resorted to using every means possible to curtail the laws that are meant to guarantee the sanctity of the vote,” claimed Omar,

“Indeed, it is quite possible that Jubilee is using the outgoing IEBC Commissioners and/or secretariat (through proxies) to launch litigation in Court with the aim of having the new electoral laws declared unconstitutional.”
