I wish Mutua was never Machakos Governor, says Muthama

Former Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama has accused Machakos Governor Dr. Alfred Mutua of being overambitious and selfish.

Speaking during an interview with Viusasa, Muthama claimed that he wishes Mutua was never the Machakos County boss, further scoffing at the governor’s 2022 presidential bid.

According to Muthama, Mutua is being overambitious and has no idea of what it takes to be the Head of State.

“He should ask Raila who has vied since 1997. He should first consult and ask what does it take. During my period as Senator I spent my entire tenure trying to stop Mutua from destroying Machakos,” said Muthama, who also boasted to be a performer.

“I am personally a performer. How can I support a failure like Mutua. In fact, the sooner he leaves that position the better. I wish Mutua was not the Governor of Machakos things would be different. I cannot support him.”

On  Friday, the Court of Appeal nullified Governor Mutua’s election on grounds that the election results declared by the Returning Officer failed the Constitutional test and could not be verified.

The judge further directed that fresh elections be conducted and the certificate issued to Mutua be set aside.

Mutua, however, declared he would move to the Supreme Court, terming the case as a small hurdle.

“It is just a small hurdle and I will appeal for fair hearing,” he said, adding that he is focused on the presidential seat.

During the last elections, Muthama was supporting former Kathiani MP Wavinya Ndeti, who is hoping to clinch the Machakos gubernatorial seat in a by election should the Supreme Court uphold the ruling nullifying Mutua’s win.
