Witness Taken To Task Over Claims On Ruto

Karim Khan poked holes into claims by the witness that he was present during a memorial for the late Koitalel arap Samoei in 2005 where he claims Ruto incited residents.

In his testmony, the witness had also claimed that the then Eldoret North MP barred former President Mwai Kibaki and other leaders from attending the event as they did not support the ODM party which he was a member at the time.

But Ruto’s lawyer presented to the ICC trial chamber judges newspaper cuttings of the said meeting which, according to him, showed the witness had given a false account.
