Woman, 25, stabbed in Kawangware as husband flees, is found dead

A middle-aged-man was on Friday morning found dead after he allegedly stabbed his wife to death in Kawangware, Nairobi.

According to a neighbour who spoke to Citizen Digital, the two were living together for three years and had been heard quarrelling on Thursday night.

The man is said to have fled the scene after stabbing his wife only to be found dead near the Co-operative Bank branch in Kawangware 46 area.

The couple’s 8-month old baby was however left unharmed.

Neighbours say the baby has no family members known to them that look after him.

There are over 20 other cases of women suspected to have been killed by intimate partners since January 2019.

The Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) have since called on the government to act on the suspects and urged Kenyans to respect human dignity and the sanctity of life.

Earlier this month, Naftali Njahi Kinuthia reportedly hacked 25-year-old Ivy Wangechi, a student at Moi University main campus.

He is in police custody after the court ordered that he be detained until end of April.

On April 15, 2019, another 25-year-old woman was killed allegedly by the estranged husband in Nyaribo, Nyeri County.

David Karuru reportedly followed Mary Wangui, a mother of two children aged 6 and 1, to her house where he is said to have attacked and killed her.

Other names are as listed in the graphic above.
