Woman, 60, dies during family fight

Residents of Ngatuikira village, Nembu sub-location in Gatundu South Kiambu County are mourning the death of a 60-year-old woman who was allegedly killed during a fight between members of the same family on Sunday.

According to family members, the deceased, Jacinta Muthoni, tried to stop a fight between two sisters and their sister-in-law, Sifra Mumbi, when she was hit and fell on a rock.

According to an eyewitness, Muthoni stood up and went to her house where she was reportedly found dead a few minutes later.

“I saw the deceased helping Mumbi who was carrying her baby and in the process she fell down and hit her head on a rock, she then stood up and went to her house. I assumed she had gone to rest after hitting her head but after some time we realised she was not moving, she had died,” said an eyewitness.

Sifra Mumbi narrated that she had been chased out of her home and the deceased had given her shelter in her home.

“I was chased from my homestead and my sisters-in-law Tabitha Wambui and Mary Wanjiru had come to tell me to go back and take my belongings, which I protested. That is when they started beating me,” she narrated.

Area OCPD Bernard Muli told Citizen Digital that police have launched a manhunt for the two sisters who escaped after the incident.
