Woman accused of stealing baby arrested in Migori

A middle-aged woman accused of stealing a 3-year-old baby narrowly escaped death after she was rescued from an angry mob baying for her blood in Migori County.

Mildred Achieng Ouko was cornered by locals at Karose village in Suna West Sub-county before area Assistant Chief Charles Ouma intervened and locked her in one of the nearby houses awaiting arrival of the police.

Mr. Ouma said investigations are still on and they are yet to establish whether or not the suspect indeed escaped with the baby boy who has been missing for two weeks.

Speaking to Citizen Digital, the woman denied being involved in the disappearance of the child saying she was being falsely accused.

The family of the missing child, however, insisted that they have witnesses who saw the accused leaving with the child.

The accused was detained at Migori Police Station as investigations continue.
