Woman allegedly commits suicide for failing to raise Form One fees

A woman is alleged to have committed suicide at her home in Kitui Central after failing to raise fees for her daughter who is to join Form One.

The body of the 37-year-old was discovered dangling from a tree at Kavisuni location, Katulani Sub-County on Wednesday morning.

The area AP Commandant Aliphonce Anaswa confirmed the incident saying neighbours alerted them after finding the body.

According to him, the deceased may have decided to do so after failing to raise fees for her daughter who scored 396 in the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exams and had threatened to kill herself if the mother fails to pay fees.

The woman’s body was taken to Kitui Level 4 Hospital morgue awaiting postmortem.

Police have commenced further investigations into the incident.
