Woman arraigned for allegedly torturing, inserting hot knife in stepdaughters privates

A woman was on Monday afternoon arraigned in a Kisii court and charged with torturing and sexually assaulting her nine-year old stepdaughter.

Appearing before Senior Resident Magistrate Ezekiel Obina, Winnie Kwamboka – however – did not take a plea as the court ordered her to undergo mental check-up.

According to police reports, the woman tortured the minor using a red hot knife which she also inserted in her privates at their rented house within Masongo village, Kisii County.

She was reportedly arrested after reports reached the area assistant chief that the minor had been severely burnt on her thighs, buttocks and private parts.

Police officers who arrived on scene rescued the child and whisked away the suspect from angry residents bent on lynching her.

The minor is currently at Kisii County Referral Hospital where she is undergoing treatment and is in a stable condition.

The suspect will be arraigned on Thursday for plea taking.
