Woman arrested after attempting to sell 5-year-old son at Ksh.2M

A 23-year-old woman is being held at Siaya Police Station for allegedly attempting to sell her 5-year-old son.

Sharon Achieng was arrested at Anduro village in Nyandiwa sub-location after she was reportedly found trying to sell the boy at a cost of Ksh.2 million.

According to area Assistant Chief Joseph Aloo, Achieng tried to sell her son to a woman identified as Irene who works as a security guard in Siaya town.

The suspect was reportedly heard complaining that she was overburdened by responsibility of raising the child, further claiming that her husband had abandoned her.

The administrator added that Irene reported the matter after getting suspicious since Achieng is an orphan who has been living with her grandmother and has never been married.
