Officers from the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC) on Monday arrested a former official of the Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation (REREC) for forgery of academic certificates.

Lillian Akoth Ochieng, who is a former Assistant Supply Chain Management officer at the organization, was arrested following investigations that kicked off way back in 2018.

EACC established that the suspect had forged her Diploma in Management Purchasing and Supplies and also her certificate in Purchasing and Supplies Management.

The anti-graft agency had forwarded the file to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) who concurred with EACC’s recommendations to initiate criminal proceedings against Ms. Lilian Akoth Ochieng.

She will be arraigned in a Kisumu court on Tuesday to face charges of forgery, uttering false documents, providing false information and fraudulent acquisition of public property.
