Woman burns husband with boiling cooking oil

Police in Likoni, Mombasa County are searching for a woman who allegedly burnt her husband with hot oil on Sunday, December 25.

Police say the suspect, Evelyn Atieno, accused her husband, Bruce Omondi, of infidelity and on the fateful day she bought two liters of cooking oil from a shop, boiled it and poured it on his head, chest, and private parts before escaping.

According to Likoni Area Chief, Willy Simba, Atieno, 30, burned her husband Sunday morning while he was asleep following a disagreement, Saturday night, over food and the man’s alleged philandering habits.

Omondi, who was admitted at Coast General Hospital, said his wife, for the past three years, had issued several threats and had beaten him several times since they got married.

Omondi was rushed to a local hospital in Likoni before being referred to the Coast General Hospital for specialised treatment.

Police are appealing to members of the public to report any information of the suspect’s whereabouts to them in order to assist in their investigations.
