Woman burnt to death in tragic house fire

A mother of two on Monday morning perished after her house was razed down in an inferno at around 5am at Kianjokoma, Embu East Sub County.

Embu East OCPD Peter Thenya said Stella Remie Njagi came in the morning after a night out and had just begun preparing breakfast for her children who had spent the night at their grandmother’s house when the fire started.

The 30-year-old woman reportedly ran a salon and gas cylinder business at her premises and it is suspected that the fire may have been a result of a gas leakage.

Mr Thenya told Citizen Digital that investigations into the cause of the fire are still ongoing.

This comes just weeks after an aspiring Member of County Assembly for Lakisama Ward in Nairobi’s Starehe area, together with his wife and their six-month-old daughter sustained burns after their house was set ablaze by unknown persons.

Rexam Ongutu Asila, alias Lord Gym, said his family was sleeping during the time of the incident and was woken up by screams from their house girl, Christabelle Emily Andeli.

Asila’s family was evacuated to safety with the help of neighbours but suffered severe burns.
