Woman charged with Ksh.30M fraud in Kiambu

A Kiambu court has charged a female conartist with two accounts of fraud following accusations of obtaining money under false pretenses.

Halima Mohammed Ali, a middle aged woman was charged that on diverse dates between 2016 and 2017, she obtained Ksh.30.5million from an unsuspecting Nuh Abdille Hassan, contrary to section 313 of the penal code and account 1.

She breached a contract agreement that saw her given given money in a joint business venture to construct a building on Land L. R No36/460 in Eastleigh, contrary to section 315 of the Penal Code.

The suspect, Halima however denied the charges and pleaded not guilty before Senior Principal Magistrate Stella Atambo.

The Prosecution then pleaded with the court to give them a 2-day allowance to prove facts of the charges brought up against Halima, while the defendant’s lawyer Andrew Wandabwa argued for his client to be released on reasonable bail and bond terms.

Halima was however directed to remain under police custody until Thursday April 5  when the magistrate will make a ruling in regards to her plea for bail.
