Woman claims husband chopped off his own private parts

A 23-year-old woman from Uasin Gishu County has been charged with assault and causing grievous bodily harm to her husband.

Erika Iminza Shihenda was accused of using a sharp knife to skin her husband’s private parts at their home in Huruma, Eldoret.

According to the charge sheet, the accused attacked John Kisuvana Thsumala, 41, while he was a sleep.

Thsumala works as a caretaker in one of the Pentecostal churches within the estate.

The court heard that the accused tried to flee after the incident on May 23.

The matter was reported at Huruma Administration Police Camp and officers conducted a search and found her the following day.

Appearing before Eldoret Chief Magistrate Charles Obulutsa, the accused however pleaded not guilty, alleging that her husband cut himself due to what she termed as mental disability.

She was released on a cash bail of Ksh.20, 000 and the case set for hearing on June 11.

Thsumala is currently recuperating at a hospital in Eldoret.
