Woman dies after being hit by car

One person died on the spot early Thursday morning after being hit by a speeding vehicle at Canaan shopping center near Voi Town along Mombasa-Nairobi Highway.

According to eyewitnesses, the middle-aged woman was knocked as she waited for a matatu at Canaan bus stop after the vehicle lost control and veered off the road.

The driver of the car, which was headed to Nairobi at the time of the accident, was taken to Taita Taveta County Referral Hospital in Voi while the wreckage was towed to Voi Police Station.

Last week, a standard three pupil from Kariandusi Primary School in Nakuru County died after being ran over by a school bus while another, a three year-old, died under the same circumstances.
