Woman found dead next to husband, baby in Homa Bay

Police in Homa Bay are investigating the death of a 30-year-old woman who died beside her husband at their home.

Benter Aoko Otieno reportedly died at around midnight under unclear circumstances while sleeping beside her husband and their 6-month-old baby.

Area acting Chief Simeon Onano said he received a call from one of the deceased’s relatives informing him of the incident at Koga village, Kanyabala location.

He noted that he found the woman’s body laying on the bed with no visible injuries but a postmortem will reveal what led to her death.

Onano further explained that Elijah Otieno, the husband to the deceased, narrated to how his wife prepared the evening meal but later complained that she was tired and went straight to bed.

The man said he later joined her and their baby at around midnight only to be woken up by the baby who was crying.

He apparently tried to wake her up to breastfeed but she did not respond which prompted him to seek help from his neighbours only to realise she was no more.

Speaking to Radio Ramogi, the administrator also revealed that the body has been moved to Homa Bay County Teaching and Referral Hospital morgue for an autopsy pending investigations.
