Woman hospitalised after buffalo attack in Nakuru

A middle-aged woman from Elementaita village in Gilgil, Nakuru County, is presently nursing injuries at Nakuru Level Five Hospital after she was ambushed by a herd of buffaloes on Sunday.

Speaking to Citizen Digital, Agnes Wangari said she was on her daily morning routine when the buffaloes “came out of nowhere” and knocked her down.

She was, however, rescued by fellow area residents who showed up after hearing her screams and chased away the herd.

The residents also lamented that they have previously complained to the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) about the presence of the animals at a ranch owned by one of the locals but no solution has been forthcoming.

They are now calling upon the national government,  through the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife, to intervene and erect an electric fence around the ranch to prevent the wildlife from attacking them or their children who resume school this week.
