Woman in court for alleged robbery of Ksh.1M cash

A woman was on Tuesday arraigned in a Nairobi court for allegedly robbing another woman of items and cash worth a combined Ksh.1,140,000.

Emma Njeri Wangeci was alleged to have robbed Heena Manharlar Shah off Ksh 1,010,000 in cash, a gold ring valued at Ksh.30, 000 and an iPhone worth Ksh 100,000 at Westlands.

Appearing before Principal Magistrate M. Nanzushi, the accused further faced an alternative charge of handling stolen property contrary to Section 322 (1)(2) of the Penal Code.

The court heard that, on February 28, 2019, she received Ksh.755,000 in her account held at Equity Bank which had allegedly been stolen from the account of Dr. Heena Juzar Hooker held at DTB Bank.

The accused, though her advocate, pleaded for lenient bond terms claiming she is a single mother with a 2-year-old child.

She was released on a Ksh.2,000,000 bond and the case set for hearing on August 26, 2019.
