Woman in court for stealing six-week-old baby

A middle-aged woman was on Thursday arraigned at the Bondo Principal Magistrates Court after she was arrested for allegedly stealing a six-weeks-old girl.

Irene Achieng’ Okelo, who appeared before Bondo Principal Magistrate Moses Obiero, was arrested on Wednesday in Usenge town while still in possession of the infant.

She was then taken to Bondo Police Station.

The court heard that on July 15, 2018 at Migingo market in Bondo town, the suspect fraudulently took and disappeared with the child who did not belong to her with intent to deprive Dolphine Achieng Adino the ownership of her baby.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the offense and was granted a bond of Ksh.100,000 and an alternative cash bail of Ksh.50,000.

The case will be brought for mention on August 2, 2018 while hearing was slated for August 28, 2018.
