Woman in Homa Bay whose husband hit her with stove wants divorce

A woman in Homa Bay Town wants help to secure divorce from her husband after he allegedly threatened to kill her.

Pamela Akinyi, who works as a maid in Sofia Estate, claims that the husband is hiding her ID card and other documents to restrict her movement.

“We have lived in peace together for 16 years until recently when he started to mistreat and abuse me, at some point hit me with a cooking stove,” Akinyi said.

The mother of three says she separated from her husband on Thursday last week after the man threatened to kill her alongside her children.

She further alleges that efforts to have the husband arrested have failed even after reporting the matter to the police and Children’s Department.

Akinyi is now calling on well-wishers to help her start legal proceedings for divorc.

She further urged police to take the matter seriously and arrest the husband over the death threats.
