Woman in KNH twin-baby theft out on bail
The woman accused of stealing a two-week-old twin baby at the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) on Sunday, February 18 has changed her plea and pleaded not guilty, to two counts of child stealing.
The suspect, Ednah Kemunto Mabuka, who had pleaded guilty when she was first arraigned in court on February 27, was on Friday February 2, however released on a cash bail of 600,000 shillings.
The accused was arrested in Kawangware, Nairobi after a neighbour contacted the baby’s father, Job Nyatiti Ouko, after his heart wrenching story aired on Citizen TV.
Ms. Kemunto is said to have suffered a miscarriage recently so when she returned home from KNH with a baby, suspicion arose among her neighbours.
