Woman killed in Saudi Arabia laid to rest

The body of a woman who reportedly died three months ago in Qatar under mysterious circumstances was buried on Tuesday at her home in Muhara village, Gatundu South in Kiambu County.

Rose Njoki, 30, had been working as a domestic worker in Qatar before she met her death.

According to Joseph Githumbi, her uncle, tracing her body even with help from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was difficult.

“It took us three months to locate her body through the coordination of our agency and that of Qatar,” he said.

Joseph added that the agency that organised her travel and employment was not registered through legal channels, further complicating efforts to find her.

Rose Njoki joins a long list of workers mysteriously killed in Saudi Arabia.

Speaking to Citizen Digital, Joseph said there was a long list of Kenyans who had died or gone missing at the entrance of the agency in Qatar.

“When we left more people came in searching of their missing loved ones,” he said.

John Njenga, a seminarian at Gatundu Catholic Church Parish, urged Kenyans interested in working in Saudi Arabia to take time and identify genuine agencies that are registered with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to avoid similar outcomes.
