Woman loses memory, lives in hospital for 4 years

An unknown woman has been admitted in Meru Teaching and Referral Hospital for the past four years without any relatives or friends visiting her.

The woman, who has been in the hospital since July 2011, was rescued when she was found unconscious in Kirua Meru County.

She then regained her consciousness but neither recalled her name nor where she came from.

Also, the baby she was admitted with died.

The hospital has made all the efforts to track her family or relatives and even involved the local administration in Kirua but their efforts have proved futile.

Appealing to any person who might know her, Geoffrey Mosoti a Medical Social Worker in MTRH said that she has overstayed in the hospital.

He stated that due to complications she developed, she became partially paralyzed and if she stayed any longer, she will contract more infections.

He appealed to the community to get in contact with the hospital or with the local administration if they recognize her.

This comes after another man, who was abandoned by his family, stayed in hospital for over four years.

27 year-old Stephen Njogu ,who has been living at St. Mary’s Mission Hospital, was left paralyzed following a motorcycle accident on June 22, 2011 in Subukia.
