Woman shot dead, two seriously injured as thugs terrorise Thika town

One person was shot dead and two men seriously injured after gangsters wreaked havoc on Monday night in Thika town.

The first incident happened at Ngoingwa estate in the outskirts of Thika town which resulted in a woman being shot dead and her husband badly injured.

According to Thika Administration Police boss Peter Nzimbi the gangsters waylaid the couple at their gate at 1AM and forced themselves into the compound.

The woman, who police identified as Charity Wanjiru Kinyanjui raised alarm and it was then that the gangsters shot her several times killing her on the spot. They then escaped in the couple’s car and hijacked the husband, Dr Charles Kimani Kagimbi and their house help.

The AP boss said the gangsters shot Dr. Kimani four times in the head and chest before fleeing after the vehicle, a Toyota Vanguard KCM 411H rammed into a ditch. The house help was not injured.

The armed robbers then hijacked another vehicle belonging to Antony Chege and drove towards Makongeni area where they abandoned it and waylaid a taxi driver, Joseph Karanja Waweru whom they shot in the mouth and made away with his motor vehicle.

Mr. Karanja was rushed to Thika Level V where he was also admitted in ICU in serious but stable condition. His vehicle was abandoned at Landless estate.

Nzimbi revealed that the security team have launched investigations and are following crucial leads and will apprehend the criminals.
