Man beaten to death by his wife and sons in Bungoma

A 55-year-old man died on Tuesday morning after he was assaulted by his two sons on Monday night following a domestic squabble with his wife.

Patrick Khalabai from Sindani village, Bungoma County, is alleged to have returned home drunk at 9pm on Monday and differed with his wife over conjugal rights.

Neighbours, who spoke to Citizen Digital, said the couple lived under the same roof but would sleep on different beds owing to differences.

The woman reportedly screamed during the night, attracting the attention of her sons aged 25 and 28, who were also in the house at the time.

The boys broke the door and found their mother still screaming saying the man wanted to rape her. They then all descended on him and beat him up using crude weapons, including a panga.

The sons and their mother then left the house before returning in the morning when they found the man in critical condition and rushed him to a nearby hospital on a motorcycle.

He was, however, pronounced dead on arrival.

Angry residents who thronged the homestead threatened to lynch the trio before police officers from Kimilili arrived on scene and arrested the woman together with one her sons with a hunt being launched for the other.
