Woman stabs three children then commits suicide

Residents of Kuinet Center in Uasin Gishu County are in mourning after a 35-year-old woman allegedly stabbed her three children aged 3, 8 and 13, injuring them critically before committing suicide on Thursday.

According to a neighbour, one of the deceased’s children had been sick for some time and had just been discharged from hospital before the incident took place.

She narrated that she arrived home on Wednesday and saw no sign of the children, and when she checked in the woman’s house she found them lying in a pool of blood.

The neighbors described the deceased as a religious person who loved her children, adding that they were in shock after learning of the incident.

Eldoret East OCPD Nelson Taliti confirmed the incident saying police have launched investigations to establish the motive behind the heinous act.

The children were rushed to the Moi Teaching and Refferal Hospital in Eldoret where they were admitted under intensive care while the woman’s body was taken to the hospital’s mortuary.

This is reportedly the first incident of its kind to have happened in Kuinet area and residents have called on the council of elders to conduct a cleansing ritual.
