Woman to hang for stabbing man to death

The High Court on Tuesday sentenced a woman to death by hanging after being found guilty of murder.

Teresia Mueni Kilonzo was found palpable of stabbing to death Maxwell Moranga in March 4, 2015 at Dandora Phase IV area, Nairobi under unclear circumstances.

Justice Jessie Lessit told the court that Mueni had an ill motive and malice when she stabbed the deceased.

However, the court acquited Wyclife Okweba Onchiri who had been charged alongside Mueni, saying that the murder charges as well as the trials had not proven him guilty of the murder.

During the trial, the court had been told that on the material day, the first prosecution witness whose name was withheld, his cousin and Onchiri were joined in the house by Mueni and her two girlfriends.

The three ladies were drunk and Mueni complained of feeling like vomiting, so one of her girlfriends pulled out a basin and placed it in front of her.

At this point is when the deceased knocked on the door and called out the first prosecution witness by name and as he stood to open the door, Mueni who was next to the door took a knife from under the table in the house opened the door and stabbed the deceased once on his chest and closed the door.

The judge dismissed claims that Mueni was drunk when she committed the act noting that she knew what she was doing.

She was disarmed of the knife by Onchiri and the deceased was later found in an area where clothes are aired dead.
