Woman, two children found dead in Gem church

A 38-year-old woman and her two children were found dead inside a makeshift tent at a church in Gem sub-county.

The bodies of Anna Mwajuma Onyango, her sons Dan Onyango (12) and Lawrence Onyango (8) were discovered at the God’s Last Appeal Church in Uhonya village.

They are suspected to have died of suffocation from carbon monoxide which emanated from a charcoal stove (jiko) that she had allegedly inside the tent at the Gem church.

According to the Chief of North West Gem Location Barrack Opondo, the three had attended an annual prayer conference which started on Tuesday at the church.

He told Radio Ramogi that Mwajuma and her two sons went missing the next day only for their bodies to be discovered inside the tent at around 9pm.

This was after church members questioned her whereabouts as she had registered for the prayer conference at the Gem church but could not be found.

The bodies have been moved to Siaya County Referral mortuary awaiting a post-mortem as investigations into the matter begin.
