Woman’s mutilated body found stuffed in suitcase along River Yala

By Martin Ngeleso

Residents of Kakamega County were left reeling in shock after a mutilated body of a woman was on Tuesday found stuffed in a suitcase along River Yala in Kakamega County along the Kisumu-Kakamega road.

The middle-aged woman’s body, which had several parts including the head and legs missing, was discovered by sand miners who were plying their trade in the area.

Western region Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) commander David Cheruiyot said preliminary investigations showed the woman had been murdered elsewhere and his body dumped by the river.

The DCI boss, however, assured that police had commenced a thorough probe into the incident.

Local residents claimed that this was the third mysterious killing to hit the area in the recent past.

Two bodies of children aged 11 and 9 believed to have killed by their father are reported to have been found along the same river a few weeks ago. Before this, an elderly woman’s body was also reportedly found dumped near the same river.
