Women MPs call for peace ahead of 2017 polls

Othaya Member of Parliament, Mary Wambui, and Laikipia Women Representative, Jane Apollos, have called on Kenyans to preach peace and unity as the country approaches the 2017 General Election.

Speaking at Manguo PCEA Church in Nyahururu during a fundraiser on Sunday, the two leaders said that peace is key to development and country’s cohesion, especially as the 2017 poll approaches.

They urged the electorate to vote for the Jubilee government saying that it has led Kenya to unity and healing.

“The Jubilee government is in good form, it has united Kenyans and led to unity and national cohesion,” said Ms Wambui.

She added that the Jubilee Party will ensure free and fair nominations for all and hence no cause for alarm.

Wambui, who supported the law barring party hopping, said that the legislation will help instill discipline in political parties and bring sanity in their management.

On the other hand, the Laikipia Woman MP, Jane Apollos, observed that the country was headed in the right direction in enhancing democracy adding that the Jubilee administration has made tremendous steps towards addressing critical issues affecting Kenyans.

She also called on the church and other religious organizations to play their roles responsibly since their participation cannot be ignored.
