The Trade Union Congress (TUC – Kenya), an umbrella body for unions representing teachers, civil servants, lecturers and other workers, has now endorses the presidential bid of Opposition National Super Alliance (NASA) leader, Raila Odinga.

The union leaders led by the Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Secretary General, Wilson Sossion, and his Kenya University Staff Union counterpart, Charles Mukhwaya, said the unions affiliated to the umbrella union have agreed to back the opposition due to unfilled promises by the Jubilee government.

Speaking in Mombasa in the company of Raila, the union leaders promised to marshal support for the opposition after signing of a Memorandum of Understanding.

On his part, the NASA presidential candidate hailed the union leaders for supporting the opposition saying if he is elected next week, his government will end perennial strikes by teachers and health workers.
