You are just bitter because you lost – Waititu to Kabogo

Kiambu County Jubilee Party Nominee Ferdinand Waititu has dismissed William Kabogo’s candidature as a case of sour grapes – his statement coming shortly after Kabogo announced that he would defend his sit as an independent candidate.

The MP – who was announced winner on April 26 after he garnered 353, 604 votes against Kabogo’s 69, 916 – said Kabogo was bitter because his plans to rig the primaries were foiled by the party.

Waititu has now warned Kabogo against dragging President Uhuru Kenyatta’s name into his loss, saying that Uhuru did not meddle with the nominations.

“The president and his deputy were in Nairobi, they did not interfere with the exercise,” said Waititu – a sentiment that was seemingly in response to Kabogo’s assertion that ‘powerful forces’ were keen to see him lose the Kiambu ticket.

The Kabete Member of Parliament commended Kiambu’s electorate for ‘turning down Kabogo’s bribes’.

Speaking during the handing over of Jubilee Party certificates to party primary winners, Waititu promised to lead an all-inclusive county government in which he will direct more resources to lift the people from poverty.

Waititu’s comrade in the ‘United for Kiambu’ forum – James Nyoro claimed that Kabogo is intending to use money that he allegedly looted from county coffers to fund his independent campaign.

Nyoro called on the government to send auditors to scrutinise county books of accounts in Kiambu, Nakuru and Kirinyaga counties – especially since incumbent governors are all defending their seats as independents.

“Where is money for forming independent candidates’ coalition coming from? It is coming from Kiambu, it is coming from Nakuru, it is coming from Kirinyaga. We want auditors to be sent,” said Nyoro.

Nyoro slammed Governor Kabogo alongside governors Kinuthia Mbugua (Nakuru) and Joseph Ndathi (Kirinyaga) for going against the will of the people and the president by ditching the JUbilee Party to run as independents.

He asked the public to humble the three candidates by ensuring that they do not clinch the seats come August 8.
