You must deliver to voters or go home – Uhuru to Nairobi leaders

President-elect, Uhuru Kenyatta, has told Nairobi Jubilee leaders that the people of the City urgently need efficient garbage collection, clean water and better traffic flow.

Speaking on Saturday, August 19 when he met elected leaders-from Governor-elect, Mike Sonko, Senator-elect, Johnson Sakaja, to MPs-elect and MCAs-elect, President Kenyatta insisted that they should not waste any time but immediately embark on helping the very people who elected them in the just concluded August 8 polls.

“Nairobi people want to see a rapid and significant improvement in service delivery. Most of you have been elected for the first time, don’t allow power to get into your head, I have seen many taking that route and they failed. Wananchi are our bosses and that’s why we want to change Nairobi for the benefit of wananchi,” the President said.

President Kenyatta, whose win in the August presidential polls has been contested at the Supreme Court by the opposition National Super Alliance (NASA), warned the leaders that if they don’t deliver to the people’s satisfaction, they will be voted out in five years’ time, while urging them to preach peace among the people of Nairobi.

“Jubilee leaders need to work as teams to ensure that service delivery to Nairobi residents have improved greatly. Please preach peace, tell wananchi in every estate to live together peaceful,” added the President.

On the other hand, Governor-elect, Mike Sonko, assured the residents of Nairobi that service delivery will be bettered, considering that the party won a majority of seats in Nairobi hence they will easily work together towards implementing Jubilee’s transformative agenda.

“We don’t understand why NASA is  saying the election was stolen, if you look at Nairobi  we won the majority seats from Members of County Assembly to Members of Parliament,” said the Nairobi Governor-elect.

Jubilee party won nine seats for Members of Parliament out of the 17, and 46 out of the 85 seats for Members of County Assembly in Nairobi County, in the just concluded August polls.
