You were either on Mama Lucys right or wrong side Uhuru

The Late Mama Lucy Kibaki will forever be remembered for her strong sense of family values, this is according to President Uhuru Kenyatta.

“Her fierce defence of family was always very clear,” said President Kenyatta.

Speaking at her requiem mass held at the Consolata Shrine in Westlands, President Kenyatta said that Mama Lucy Kibaki’s strong support of the girl child and advocacy on issues HIV were just some of the many things she did.

“She was committed to causes that she believed in. Many of the causes were under the radar and did not necessarily bring her to the limelight,” said President Kenyatta.

“If there is anything we can learn from her life, there are two fundamental issues; support of family, and her commitment to causes that she cherished. She stood firm to delivering and seeing them through,” he added.

President Kenyatta noted that she was a very strong supporter of her husband.

“They say behind every man is a strong woman, Mama Lucy was a strong woman,” stated the President.

Hinting at Mama Lucy’s firm nature, the Head of State noted there was no half-ways where she was concerned.

“Mama Lucy is somebody that I have known most of my life. There were no half-ways, You were either on her right side, or on her wrong side. If you were on her wrong side, it was not a very good experience, ” stated the President amid applause.

Mama Lucy will be laid to rest at her home in Othaya on Saturday.

The body of the former first lady arrived at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport Sunday morning before the cortege was taken to Lee Funeral Home.

Former President Mwai Kibaki and his son Anthony accompanied the body from London to Nairobi where Lucy Kibaki had been taken for treatment

Lucy Kibaki passed on Tuesday morning at the Bupa Cromwell Hospital in London.
