You won’t remove me from office, Kidero tells Waititu

Governor Evans Kidero has rubbished Kabete MP Ferdinand Waititu’s move to seek for the reversal of a the Supreme Court ruling that granted him Nairobi County leadership, saying that the plans will not succeed.

Speaking during a church service in Nairobi, Kidero said Waititu’s plan will not work because allegations that he bribed Supreme Court Judge Justice Phillip Tunoi were false.

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Nairobi Chairperson George Aladwa echoed Kidero’s statement saying that the Nairobi county boss did not dish out Ksh200 million in a bit to procure a favourable ruling.

Touching on the 2017 polls, Aladwa told Coalitions for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) leader Raila Odinga to brace himself for the General Election.

Echoing the same remarks that landed him in trouble with National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) last year, Aladwa said that CORD members will not allow electoral theft.

The former Nairobi mayor blamed the Jubilee government for fighting CORD leaders, using Kidero and Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho.

Following the verdict by the special Judicial Service Commission (JSC) committee that recommended for the formation of a tribunal to further probe bribery allegations leveled against Tunoi, Waititu said that he would pursue the removal of Kidero from office.

Waititu announced that he had already lined up his team of lawyers, led by Senior Counsel Paul Muite, to seek the removal of Kidero following the verdict of the JSC special committee.

Leaders from both sides of the political divide have had expressed mixed reactions to the JSC committee verdict.
