Youth accused of attacking MP Midiwo released

Four youth arrested for allegedly stoning a vehicle belonging to Gem Member of Parliament Jakoyo Midiwo on Sunday, September 11 have been released.

The four; George Ochieng Gare, Jackton Okelo Sagom, William Okoth Owuor and Lawrence Odhiambo, were released on police bail of Ksh 5,000 each.

They were released after West Alego Member of County Assembly (MCA), Leonard Oriaro, and his Central Gem counterpart, Fred Ouda, intervened to resolve the matter.

Speaking after the release, Oriaro stated that the suspects were allowed to go home until the MP records a statement at the Siaya Police Station regarding the attack.

Siaya OCPD, Ancient Kaloki, warned political leaders not to use the youth in their dealings or settling political scores.

Oraro further criticized the leaders for allegedly using police to scare members of the public, stating that they should completely keep the police and the courts out of their political differences.
