Youth cautioned against engaging in political violence

Youth in Siaya County have been asked to no longer allow politicians to use them to cause violence during the 2017 elections campaigns.

Alego-Usonga parliamentary aspirant, Kevin Osuri, and the Women Representative aspirant, Florence Aluodo, have appealed to the young people to resist any attempts by politicians to use them to cause violence.

Osuri says that it is saddening that leaders have started ‘misusing’ the youth and has since cautioned them not to participate in activities that might cause trouble and jeopardize their future.

The two were speaking Thursday during an ID card registration exercise in Alego-Usonga constituency.

Osuri pleaded with everybody who has attained the age of 18 years to ensure they acquire the vital document.

He stated that all potential voters must acquire IDs and voters’ cards to be eligible to participate in the next year’s General Election.

The exercise saw more than 5,000 women and youths across Alego-Usonga make new applications for national identity cards.
