Led by Brian Mandago and Kiptum Tum, the youth warned opposition leaders against using the truce to divide Jubilee.
“We will not allow the unwarranted attacks by ODM leaders on DP Ruto because he [Ruto] is firmly in Jubilee and no one has the authority to ask him to retire ,” Tum said.
They were speaking in Kapsabet Town after holding demonstrations.
According to them, the much publicised handshake was a political attempt by Raila Odinga to try and weaken Ruto’s clout ahead of the 2022 elections.
This comes after the DP took a swipe at Odinga over the weekend accusing him of plotting against Jubilee.
“The handshake is not a license so that you can bring confusion, propaganda and conman-ship into our party,” said Ruto.
Politicians allied to Raila Odinga have since told off the DP with Junet Mohamed (Suna East MP) and Ali Hassan Joho (Mombasa Governor) warning him to refrain from such utterances.
On the referendum, the youth termed proposals for Prime Minister position as “selfish” and an intention to take the country in the wrong direction.
