The collapse of an apartment at Huruma estate in Nairobi has rekindled the debate on the safety levels of residential houses in the country.

National Construction Authority has de-linked itself from allegations of laxity in clamping down on rogue contractors and building owners who flout set regulations saying they can only identify buildings to be demolished, but have no capacity to carry out demolitions.
