11-year-old United fan blames Van Gaal for West Ham draw

Manchester United wasted a host of chances in their match against West Ham at Old Trafford on Saturday.

The match proceedings were a disappointment to many Manchester United fans who felt like, despite West Ham’s resilience, they could have won the match and go above Manchester City who had earlier lost 2-0 to Stoke City.

In the video (below) on Full Time Devils YouTube channel11-year-old ardent Manchester United fan, Charlie, lashed out at manager Louis van Gaal for his ‘boring’ philosophy saying he should allow his players to showcase their skills and focus on attacking-style of play.

In the interview held after United drew 0-0 with West Ham on Saturday, Charlie said the Red Devils had squandered a chance to go above arch-rivals City blaming Van Gaal of imposing wrong tactics ti the players.

“We are not clinical enough. We had 67 per cent possession and 21 shots on goal with only one on target. We missed an opportunity to go above City who had lost to (Mark) Hughes’ side,” said Charlie.

He differed with claims that Van Gaal was not to blame for the underperformance saying he should take full responsibility for the team’s dismal show that has seen them attain five draws in nine matches putting them fourth on the log with 29 points, three less than Leicester City who lie top.

“Van Gaal is part of the problem because he is the one who tells the players what system to play. He has got into their heads but in a wrong way,” said Charlie.

“It seems like the players are scared of going against Van Gaal’s philosophy. It’s like they have been told to pass the ball in a certain way and keep a certain amount of possession or else  they would be dropped from the team.”

When told to pick the man of the match, Charlie said: “I am torn between Anthony Martial and Jesse Lingard because they are the only players who thought of putting the ball in the net.”

After a thorough analysis of the match hough, he decided that none of the players deserved to be the man of the match.

United are now tied on points with City who are third due to a superior goal difference while Arsenal are second with 30 points.
