36 selected for CECAFA U20 Women Championships

36 players were on Tuesday named to represent Kenya in the forthcoming CECAFA U20 women championship set to be held in the Country this year.

A number of those selected were scouted from the Chapa Dimba na Safaricom youth tournament .A final squad is set to be trimmed on May 18 at Barclays Sports Club.

“The list largely features top performers from the Chapa Dimba na Safaricom Youth Tournament, among them St. Mary’s Ndovea’s Nuru Hensley, Bishop Njenga’s Lavenda Murumwa, Barcelona Ladies’ Jane Njeri, and Kwale Girls’ Joy KingLady, who all made the team to Spain with the Chapa Dimba All-Stars,” said FKF via their official portal.

The junior starlets will be facing stiff competition ahead of them since 2017 where the under 20 team took part in the World Cup qualifiers.

In 2017, the team took part in the U20 World Cup qualifiers, falling to Ghana in the final qualifying round. The Junior Starlets had breezed past Botswana in the first round (7-1 on aggregate) before edging out Ethiopia 4-3 on aggregate in the second round.
