“We have called on the Anti-doping association of Kenya (ADAK) to come in and train our athletes. This doping issue will affect the sport negatively if measures are not taken early,”race organizer Kariuki Gacara said.

The race has two categories; children from age of 6-12, which will start from Kanjeru Stage, and the senior’s race, and the senior’s race will begin from the Wangige Bus Station and end at Alliance Boys’ playground. The Event takes place on June 9.

Last year, there were 15,000 participants and this year Wanyoike is expecting to host over 15,000.

The retired Paralympian has at the same time called upon upcoming athletes to desist from using performance enhancing drugs and focus on training and running clean.

Wanyoike’s call and Adak’s decision to pitch camp at the event come in the wake of startling reports of Kenyan athletes testing positive to banned performance enhancing substances.
